CEO SEARCH FOR A LEADING BANK IN AN EMERGING COUNTRY

Situation Analysis

Neumann International, was appointed to search for the CEO of a world leading bank dealing with investment in emerging countries, two other key positions were also part of the assignment.

Reporting to the Supervisory Board, the CEO would be tasked with setting up the organization and managing it in order to achieve its main objectives of attracting and improving foreign investment in the emerging country.

Action

After working with the Supervisory Board to develop a detailed brief, Neumann International set up a team of four Partners and Consultants and three International Researchers to systematically investigate the worldwide market and to identify/qualify potential candidates.

Some interviews took place in the country itself, others were conducted in Neumann International offices internationally or through video conferences. Neumann International undertook intensive and extensive documentation and Internet research, and gathered information about target organizations and potential candidates rapidly - within three weeks. Interviews took place between weeks four and six after starting the project. Eight weeks after briefing, five potential candidates were presented to the client.

Result

The shortlist of candidates Neumann International presented contained mixed nationalities (U.S., Asian, African and European) as well as a wide range of experience (public and private). The client received a diverse and impartial recruitment solution enabling him a wide choice of different options.

HIGH LEVEL EXPERT SEARCH FOR INTERNATIONAL BANK

Situation Analysis

Neumann International was appointed by the investment branch of a large well-known international bank to search for some high calibre experts - specialists who would be required to support and to validate various investment projects in emerging countries.

Recognised experts in their field, the candidates were required to have a solid educational background (preferably engineering degree + MBA) and must have acquired strong professional experience in their sector in private companies, through technical, marketing/business development and managerial responsibilities.

Action

Using the Neumann International Sector Practice expertise and Consultants’ network, Neumann International set up a team comprising an experienced Partner supported by an International Researcher. Neumann International investigated target companies and identified Business Development Director and General Manager profiles (usually in emerging countries).

Result

Despite a very narrow brief, Neumann International qualified and interviewed around ten to twelve experts for each position and presented three to five to the client. Neumann International placed two General Managers with a strong international professional background, one in Asia, the other one in Africa. Both relocated to the institution’s world headquarters and are today considered very efficient and professional experts in their respective fields.

HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH FOR LOCAL HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES FOR HIGH TECH ORGANISATION

Situation Analysis

Neumann International's client’s UK headquarters decided to hire a new Human Resources Manager for their continental operations. It was key that the successful candidate for this position understood the complexity of local labour laws, the strategic value of human resources policies within a globally branded multicultural business as well as the importance of developing a team who could support them through some major upcoming redundancy projects.

Action

Neumann International quickly recognised that the combination of many of the skills and attributes in our client’s desired candidate profile did not exist in any single individual on the market. Neumann International therefore advised the client in developing an executive profile that better encompassed the operational requirements and reflected the feasibility of finding the best candidate in the marketplace. A decision was reached to recruit an experienced interim Human Resources Manager to take care of immediate legal and political issues.

By pooling international knowledge and a broad network of human resource contacts Neumann International quickly established a selection of potential interim managers.

The additional time this interim solution provided was used to find and integrate the right person into the permanent position. Using a mix of complementary tools Neumann International validated each prospect and narrowed down the list to three candidates presented confidentially to the UK Human Resources team.

Result

The client was ultimately drawn to a candidate that came from the industrial and aeronautics sector, with a solid background in employee relations and strong negotiation skills. The candidate developed breakthrough human resources initiatives - precisely what the client needed. Neumann International also added value using international and multi-cultural knowledge to manage intercultural differences between the UK and continental clients’ management styles to ensure a smooth and effective process.
