SEARCH FOR ADVISORY BOARD FOR STRATEGIC CONSULTANCY ORGANISATION
Situation Analysis
A leading global strategic consultancy organisation wanted to
strengthen their competitive position in their countries of operation
by increasing their business development activities. They also wanted
to be perceived as leaders in selected industry sectors. The strategic
consultancy had strong relationships with CEOs in the countries in
which they operated however had a desire to also build relationships
with the owners of companies. The strategic consultancy organisation
briefed Neumann International that in order to achieve these goals they
needed to appoint a group of credible, well respected industry leaders
to form an advisory board and participate in the development of the
company in the country. Neumann International was tasked with
identifying and working with the strategic consultancy to appoint the
advisory board.
Action
Neumann International sourced individuals who came from several
suitable backgrounds – former members of government or regulatory
institutions, previous company leaders and leading entrepreneurs and
heads of private equity companies with the capability and desire to
form part of a board. Due to the seniority of the individuals involved
comprehensive meetings were held between the client, Neumann
International and the individuals to ascertain if there was a suitable
fit.
Neumann International worked closely with the client to undertake a
thorough analysis of all candidates’ capabilities and supported the
strategic consultancy in making the decision on which individuals they
would take onto the advisory board.
Result
The comprehensive process resulted in four senior and highly
respected individuals being appointed to the advisory board which now
meets on a monthly basis. The strategic consultancy has reported that
the advisory board has become one of the most useful and strategic
management tools operating at the most senior level in the
company.
